Chasing the huge total of 357 runs, Sri Lasnka was bundled out for just 55 runs, reminder of the recently concluded Asia Cup final where India had bundled out Lankan Tigers for 50 runs.

India has won all the six matches it has played against Australia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, New Zealand, and England. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, has lost four out of the six matches it has played so far. The Sri Lankan team recently lost the match against Afghanistan by 7 wickets. It also lost the matches against Pakistan, South Africa, and Australia. Sri Lanka, however, has managed to win the matches against England and Netherlands so far.

He was well supported by Mohammed Siraj who also took three wickets. Earlier, invited to bat first after Sri Lanka won the toss, Team India rode on superb half centuries by Virat Kohli (88 runs off 94 balls), Shubman Gill (92 runs off 92 balls), and Shreyas Iyer’s 82 runs off 56 deliveries), to put 357 runs on board in their allotted 50 overs.

The only successful bowler for Sri Lanka was Dilshan Madhushanka who took 5 wickets for 80 runs in 10 overs. Notably, India have been unstoppable thus far in the tournament. Riding a six-game winning streak, Rohit Sharma and his team enterwed the match as the favorites. In their previous outing, they convincingly defeated defending champions England by a margin of 100 runs.
